When enabling Full Access, an alert pops up, saying that your privacy may be at risk.
Here are the key points regarding this:
- This is a general alert that applies to millions of apps
- This alert applies to information you type with the keyboard extension's ABC keyboard, not to information you type with the standard, native, keyboard.
- The keyboard extension does offer an ABC keyboard alongside the emoji (to comply with Apple's terms), but you can completely avoid it, focusing only on the emoji.
- This way, the keyboard extension has no access to what you type with the standard keyboard.
And in any event, the keyboard extension does no saving, no storing and no networking of any kind. Your privacy is 100% safe.
On a more technical note: The reason Full Access is required is to be able to copy selected emoji to the (otherwise blocked) pasteboard. It's unfortunate that pasteboard access requires Full Access, and we certainly hope Apple will change this in the future.
